Boise State University and the Department of Criminal Justice is honoring National Crime Victims’ Rights Week by offering 48 hours of workshops over four days for students and the public to learn about the history of the victims' rights movement, services for crime victims, and the effects of crime on its victims.

Dr. Lisa Bostaph will be hosting workshops held in the Student Union Building on campus beginning at 8:30 am Monday, April 14, 2008 and ending at 8 pm Thursday, April 17, 2008. The topics to be covered are as follows:

  •  History of the Victims’ Rights Movement

  • Secondary Victimization

  • Domestic Violence

  • Crime Victim Compensation

  • Tour of Nampa Family Justice Center

  • Tour of Family Advocacy Center and Education Services

  • Traumatic Death

  • Violence in the Workplace

  • Campus Crime and Victimization

  • Court Appointed Special Advocates

  • Toughguise documentary

  • Hate and Bias Crime

  • Internet Crimes Against Children

  • Victims' Rights and Victim Impact Panel

  • Teen Dating Violence

  • Rural and Remote Victims

  • and more

Workshops will be presented by Boise State University, Idaho State University and University of Idaho professors, Boise State Student Affairs personnel, and professionals in the field.
